Seeing as how I can't type much, I recorded some voice posts using my trusty (by which I mean aged) headset. [livejournal.com profile] emungere swears that I do not sound like a chipmunk in these... although when I played them back on my pc they played at double speed. Er, lets see what happens. They're small .wav files, via yousendit:

Frogs

My Gojyo and Hakkai standie

Have you ever seen the Maltron keyboard? I wittered on about them for years in "adapt your hardware" lectures, but then had to use the demo model in all seriousness when I tore the tendons in my arm.

The usual reaction, particularly if you can already type, is WTF have they done to it. This is quite rational; they're clunky and, at leat the one I used, give the impression of having been made in a shed for a school project. But functionally they are the most comfortable keyboard I've used.

Can be hired by the week and good candidates for DDA grants for employers.

end sales pitch

And your vice posts sound fine. Though no one ever sounds as I expect.

Hmmm, thanks, they look interesting. I've been thinking of getting an ergonomic keyboard for a while now. did it take you long to get used to it?

So, what did you imagine I might sound like? *g*

Goodness, you sound so cute!

Sorry to hear about the hands (I know that's overdue of me to say). I'm glad the standie arrived all right!

You said the whole name... hee...

You know, I've a terrible habit online of forgetting the world is larger than my office. Not in any xenophobic way: simply in a "how can anyone be foreign when their words are here in my office so regularly?" sort of way. So while I've known you were from somewhere British, somehow my brain had utterly failed to draw the logical conclusion that yes, you'd have an accent.

So I listened to the frogs one twice with that utterly US form of accent glee. I feel such the ugly American... pardon me whilst I go hide beneath the rock of my own national bias (well, and continue to smile in great delight at how charming your voice is).

Oh my goodness, you have the most darling voice ever. It's so cute! *squeals* I want to bottle your voice and carry it around with me. It's that cute.

And I totally did the same thing that [livejournal.com profile] trensaddiction did and forgot that because you live in England, you'd have an accent. I totally did the American-squeeing-over-a-cute-British-accent thing, too. (Is there room under that rock for me?) Socute!

Kyah!! XD Your speaking voice is awesome! So cute. Cuter than-- okay, that one look that Hakkai gives Gojyo in volume 8? (the "using cans as ashtrays will earn you retribution" speech?) Cuter than that. And that scene is a cute so cute it has no name, so you're off the charts. ;)

*cheers for more [livejournal.com profile] louiselux podcasts*

I'm sorry about your tendonitis. I hope you heal soon!

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Do it again! That was fantastic *g*.

*glee glee glee*

I have an enormous grin splitting my face now, thanks to you. You sound so lovely, and you made me laugh along with you. What a wonderful snicker you have. "Little fro-o-ogs!" LOL.

Both my girls listened to you as well, and they agree that you have a delightful voice (and that the frog story was excellent) :-D.

I shall 'play Louise' now whenever I need to smile and feel cheerier.

It only took a couple of days to get used to the alpha keys, which are on the same fingers and rows. About a week for most of the numbers and punctuation because they've moved further. And I never got used to touch-typing the 5 because I use the "wrong" hand for it on a normal keyboard.

It probably wasn't so much of a shock for me since I'd been showing it to students for several years. There was a strong need to learn as I couldn't get both hands on a normal keyboard at once. And the point of honour to show that, yes, it really was a help if you had restricted movement, after assuring others of this without ever needing it myself.

Actually you sound very much as I do when I hear myself recorded. That always surprises me too.

I knooooow, isn't that awesome? Britishness! Refined southerners! I could listen to this accent forever. It's so melodic and pretty. The word "pervert" sounds especially good. I think we should request a podcast about perverts in some way.

You know, I'm totally reading you in an English accent. :P It just sounds like 'neutral' to me.

Heeee! That made me squee quite a bit, for hearing my voice is a cause of glee. Not for you crawling under a rock though, with the frogs... :-)
