A few photos of the beach, mountains, olive groves and fruit. I didn't get any pictures of the giant wasps though.

There's more in my gallery here.

Olive groves sloping down to the sea - my favourite view.

Our beach hut, made from bamboo stakes and some bits of old beach matting

Our balcony, with a beautiful view. The garden was the owner's vegetable patch, where he was growing courgettes, lemons, olives, mint, fennel and tomatoes.

Kanali beach, where we went every day. It wasn't always empty like this, but it never had more than about 15 people on it.

Specially for [livejournal.com profile] emungere, the vast mountain of watermelons in Argostoli fruit market.

Mount Ainos at sunset. This is the higest peak on the island, and rose up over the villages in a very dramatic way. It has golden eagles nesting on it, and I am pretty sure we saw two fledglings circling over the beach one day.

A burnt olive tree and the view from the path to the beach.

Magnificent - the water is so so clear - I like red flowers and the mountains make me want to put on my boots and go hiking again!

Thanks for sharing!

The earthquake was quite enough, thanks! No, no adventures really, just lots and lots of relaxing.

They feed them to tourists like us *g* All the restaurants had watermelon as dessert, and they sold huge slices in the shops.

No probs. The fruit and vegetables there were so delicious. I don't get to eat fresh picked apricots and peaches usually. It's fruit heaven!

I'll second several peoples' opinion of "Wow." The natural beauty of it all is just amazing, and everything looks so very relaxed and serene, well, except for the watermelons, which just look tasty.

Mmmmm, melon. The photos don't really do it justice - it was so incredibly pretty, and life was so slow and tranquil.

Somehow I have missed this post at the time :/

To think I'd have been deprived of such breathtaking pics! But I have found them, and there's so much peace and joy emanating from them. Mm, that blue...
