I missed House and Dr Who this week. But I did get Antique Bakery volume 3, which was almost too adorable and had some really pleasing plots twists and turns. I love how Fumi Yoshinaga surprises me like that, just when I think it might be turning into cliche.

Mail squee: [livejournal.com profile] toscas_kiss sent me Kickass Girl Movies. Thank you! And [livejournal.com profile] daegaer sent me 'Kappa' by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, the story of 'patient no 23 in one of our mental homes'. He tells a fantastical tale about his adventures in Kappaland to any one who will listen-- like a Japanese Gulliver's Travels. Written almost in the style of a children's story, it's creepy, especially the kappa mating habits, which mostly involve chasing.

[livejournal.com profile] lisa_bee wants everyone to do this meme, so I have no choice. But I might make them up, so be warned.

If you comment...

1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

1.Randomly, I love your surname. :-)
2.Hmm, this is hard, as I don't generally tend to associate people with songs
3.We should wander round the National Gallery in London, looking at funny mediaeval angels.
4.Aziraphale's underpants (this really only makes sense to me!)
5.I don't know actually - it was almost certainly talking to you on [livejournal.com profile] lower_tadfield, probably
6."You can't second-guess ineffability, I always say."
7. How old are you? I have no idea...

My surname is pretty awesome, though if you'd told me that when I was in middle school I would have disagreed strenuously.

Medieval angels! Oooh, pretty.

I'm 22, and next year I'll graduate from college and have to start thinking about graduate school or jobs. Eeek.

Eeek, jobs. Graduate school was my choice, in the face of that!

I'm thinking of working for a year or two before going to grad school. It's totally up in the air right now, though. I suppose a lot of it depends on what grad schools I think I can get into directly after graduating and if taking some time to work would improve my chances any.

I thought I was done playing the admissions game when I got out of high school. Obviously, I was wrong.

Yay, it arrived! I hope it inspires you with its oddness and its strangely phallic cover art :-)

It is a very very strange book-- I love the mention of half chewed cucumbers being thrown at the stage during a concert, and the kappa mating rituals are very disturbing!

Thanks *g*
