PART 1
Your Pseudonym: Louise Lux. Well, the local library in the town where I was born has a lavish enamelled tile frontpiece, with PAX and LUX in gold tiles on turquoise. Things like that have quite an impact when you're little. My real name is Louise.
How long have you known about/read/written fanfiction?
Since I read about it in a newspaper article in 1999
What fandom(s) do you read/write/are you involved in?
Lets see, there's Harry Potter, which is the fandom I am currently writing in. I've stopped reading quite so much here though. At the moment I ping like a pinball in my reading between Star Trek, Eroica, Sherlock Holmes, Buffy
Who is/are your favorite character(s) and why?
That's almost impossible to answer. From Harry Potter, Remus Lupin and Severus Snape.
Do you identify with certain characters? Which one(s)?
I don't think so. I think I want to sleep with them more. All the tall dark, emotionally repressed ones, that is.
What type/genre of fanfic do you read/write?
I write only slash. I usually write stuff that doesn't have much sex in it, as I can't get to grips with writing it. Plus I usually like to read stories that are more suggestive than explicit.
Why do you read/write fanfiction? Please give details!
Because I think it's a wonderful, creative thing to spend my time doing. Because I love the characters. Because it's lots of fun and it makes me happy.
Do you read official novel adaptations of TV shows? If you do, how do they compare? Please give details.
I have read one old Star Trek novel. I enjoyed it immenslely, but only because it was slashy.
What are your favorite subgenres and why?
Slash
Is there any kind of fan fiction you wouldn't read?
The badly-written kind.
PART 2
Do you prefer to read fanfiction online or in zines?
Either. I don't actually own any zines, but would like to start getting them
Are you a member of a mailing list?
Yes, some. I don't mail much to them though
If yes, do you participate actively on the list or do you prefer to 'lurk'?
See above. The lists I am on are quite busy, and if I want to say something, someone usually gets there first.
How actively are you involved in your fandom(s)?
I've written two stories, and am writing more. Moderately involved, I suppose
Do you know other fans personally?
Not in real life
Do you have friends who read/write fanfiction? If yes, how many?
Yes, one.
Do you talk about fanfiction with your friends and/or family?
Yes, to a few people
How intensely are you involved with fanfiction/the fan community? (time, effort, etc.)
I spend quite a lot of time keeping up with the fan fic.
Do you attend conventions? If you do, how often?
I would go to a convention, just haven't yet.
PART 3/1 - READERS
Do you send feedback regularly? If not, what does motivate you to send feedback?
Quite often. I have to send it when a story leaves my brain in a whirl, or when it makes me laugh, or if there is a particulalry good idea/line in it.
.
Do you like to read AU stories?
Well, sometimes, but I like to see my beloved characters in thier own world, that's one of the main points about fanfic for me, (cheesy voice) 'to see them as we've never seen them before'
PART 3/2 – WRITERS
How important is feedback to you?
I love to recieve it, but will write happliy without it. Have done, in the past.
Would you write even if you didn't get any?
See above, yes.
Do you reply to every feedback/fanmail you get?
Yes, because I am so pathetically grateful. I also think it's polite. If I've ever missed anybody out, now is the time for me to say sorry!
Do you have your stories beta'd before you post them? If you do, do you think the comments/suggestions of a beta reader help you to improve your writing style?
Yes, to both
In your favorite fandom, what are the major differences between canon and fanon?
Hmm, that's a toughie. Could it be...the shagging?
Have you ever worked as a beta reader?
Yes
If you beta, how frequently do you do that?
Whenever one comes along. I hardly ever refuse, as I find it a bit addictive.
What is your primary motivator for accepting a beta reading assigment?
Soemtimes it's because they're my friends. Other times I offer, as I like the practice.
Provide any more details below on why you choose to be a beta reader.
Helps me learn too.
