So write me somesmut thing instead! It worked last time. If you want a prompt you can have any or all of: character, pairing, word or two lines of poetry.

Date: 2005-12-15 01:15 am (UTC)Hakkai was standing by the window, palm pressed to the glass. It was rare, now, for the rain to bother him. Or maybe, Gojyo thought, he'd just learned to hide it better.
But when Hakkai turned, he was smiling, holding out his hand.
"Come outside, please, Gojyo. There's something I want to show you."
Gojyo took his hand and let Hakkai lead him out, around the side of the house. The rain soaked into his hair and clothes, feeling almost warm against his skin. It collected on his eyelashes and blurred the electric light from inside into something softer.
Hakkai pointed up.
Vines climbed up the side of the house, a swath of glossy leaves nearly two feet across. At the eaves, they split and flowed out to either side, vanishing finally around the corners of the house. Every inch of their length was dotted with creamy-white flowers, each one nearly as big as Gojyo's palm, overlapping one another, faces tipped towards the sky.
"Moonflowers," Hakkai said. He moved closer, leaning against Gojyo's side. "I planted them before we left. I never thought they'd survive."
"They bloom at night?"
"Only at night. I've heard it said they turn to follow the moon as sunflowers follow the sun."
"So they know the moon's there, even through the rain?"
"I suppose they do."
Hakkai turned his face to the sky and smiled. The rain rolling down his cheeks looked nothing like tears.
