On the grounds that lj can answer any question: how do you pronouce the name Czikzentmihalyi? I've only said it out loud once and really am not sure about how the first part should sound.

I have no idea, but trying to pronounce it, combined with that icon, just made me burst out in more than one giggling fit :P

My money's on Chick-zent-me-ha-lee, but who knows. Poor guy in any case!

I knew this at one point, because we used one of the guy's textbooks in a class and I found out somehow ... it's close to what you guessed, but I want to say it's Chi-chent-mee-hal-yi or Chik-chent-mee-hal-yi. Can't quite remember.

Thanks! I tihnk I may go with a sound that's a cross between Ts and Chi - playing it safe. :)

Yeah, what a mouthful! Thanks for the advice - I don't want to embarrass myself in front of colleagues.

There's a strong possibility it's pronounced Tsik-sent-mi-hal-yee (with the Cz- sounding like the Ts- at the beginning of Tsar), but you could mail him (mailto:miska@cgu.edu) and find out! ;)
