*stares*

In other news, I saw the Angel season 4 finale.

Noooo! Don't take Connor away, damn you. Although after growing up in a hell dimension, I suppose he never could hack it in a relatively normal, sane (?)  place like LA. But-- I wish they could have resolved it some other way, because all of season 4, so much that happened to everyone was tied to Connor in some way and now-- what? Will there just be a Connor shaped hole there? What else have they lost? Wesley won't remember his betrayal, but he also won't remember Angel's later forgiveness, or how he rescued him. Cordelia won't remember the sweet times at the beginning (if she ever wakes up, that is). Angel remembers everything, the poor sod.

LOVED everything Lilah said and did in the last episode, apart from the weird purple blouse, but maybe Hell makes you lose your fashion sense. Her last little bit alone with Wesley was very sad. Loved Lorne in the limo-- 'So, it's an evil limo... ?'

Zoe Jasmine was an interesting baddie and I rather liked the shades of grey. Would we rather be happily controlled or be miserable individuals? My gut vote was for individualism and that made me ponder very briefly on why anything else seems naturally repellent.

Connor - oh, god, the poor kid. He had such a shit life and I wish we'd followed his state of mind more closely in the final episodes, because that was the really interesting story, I thought. When he said he couldn't feel anything-- it was scary stuff, a glimpse of someone's utter terror.

I didn't think this was quite as good as some of the previous episodes and some of it was a bit slow. The Fred and Gunn stuff left me slightly meh. For some reason they've both become rather dull characters, which is a shame especially as Gunn was so sparky in season 2. I think Fred needs to torture more people with tasers-- it was her finest hour. Well, onto season 5 at some point.

I really think of Angel's high point as being season 4. Season 5 has some good moments and will help you get over some of the hideous trauma inflicted on you in season 4, but Season 4 is just...it's what a good show is, it's what good storytelling is. I cried over Connor. More than once IIRC.

Mmmm, Jasmine. I LOVED her so much. I don't think it's control, so much as simply taking away any impulse to do evil. I wish they'd dealt with the questions she brought up in a more in-depth manner.

That said: No! Stay away from season five! Let your Angel-love stay pure and untarnished! >
