Woke up at 7 am.  Stomach is somewhat better, although dread Woman's Time began today. Perhaps the two are linked.  In Boots I noticed that Kotex sanitary towels have white packaging printed with a single bright red item, like a shoe or a cake or something else that appeals to us women. The days of sanitary products avoiding the colour red are over, it seems. This has got to be a good thing.

The frog laid lots of spawn last week and is now resting in the weeds in our pond with just its head poking out of the water. The pond skaters are mating in that very awkward looking way they have, sort of on their backs and upside down.  Pregnant women in town showing off their bellies- it feels like the whole world is reproducing, or perhaps I'm just noticing it more right now.

I just hope this doesn't herald a "new look" for all sanitary towels. My mother still gets most of mine because, well, she does the shopping and every months or two she shows up with about five packs of each colour so it's quite rare that I actually need to stock up myself, but even after nine years she still has to ask, "It's the purple and the dark green, right?" and I still have to answer, "Yes, but don't forget the dark blue."

Not everyone is spawning. I know of three babies born late last year, so I'm pretty sure their parents will not be having more children for a while, and that's actually quite a large chunk of the people I know who are spawning-age.

Because we are simple creatures, especially when the curse hath come upon us, and we need all the guidance we can get!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Lying on the sofa watching TV and finishing those chocolates (OMG, those chocolates!) is probably an appropriate celebration.

Ha, yes, me too. It's automatic in the shop - dark blue ones, green ones. I suppose that's what Kotex are relying on to some extent-- that we'll just fixate on the nice colours.
