Crowley/Aziraphale
As
daegaer noted recently in her journal, Good Omens fandom has it all: canon wing fic, reptile fic (don't ask-- because I don't know!), gender swaps, angels, demons. You could say it's the daddy of all fandom crack, or... you could not, because lurking right at the heart of it there's an absolutely gorgeous, sweet, gentle story about friendship and love.
No, I'm not talking about Hastur/Ligur.
Aziraphale/Crowley is one of the most entertaining, absorbing, frustrating pairings that it's ever been my pleasure to read and write. They're for the fan who wants their pairing to have everything. There's canon genderswap, canon wingfic (as mentioned above), reptiles, possession, books, cake, tea, angels and demons getting drunk together, declarations of previously unadmitted friendship at the brink of death, Beelzebub, Satan, Death (HELLO), sunglasses, houseplant torture, sitting still for so long dust settles on shoulders, acting like an old married couple, Crowley!!!, large cream-coloured sofas, dusty back rooms of bookshops, coats being ripped at the seams, lying to God and 6000 years of back story to fill in.
Beat that.
And of course, underneath it all is the great unspoken, unadmitted love affair that's been going since they met in the Garden of Eden. This is the thing that gets me, I think. They don't fit in anywhere, anymore, except with each other. They're not human and they can't fully appreciate what it means to be alive. They can't go back because Heaven and Hell are just too dull and awful, and awfully dull. But they do have each other, and you get the strong feeling that that makes the Earth their home - they fit together.
Aziraphale and Crowley finally admit to liking each other 6000 years after they first meet. I think this means that they finally get it on some time after humans colonise Alpha Centuari. But I'm absolutely sure it's worth the wait.

Date: 2005-02-03 11:52 pm (UTC)XD This is priceless. The fandom certainly does have
Crowleyeverything: the potential for the deepest theological implications -and- the most lovely, lovely fluff.I think this means that they finally get it on some time after humans colonise Alpha Centuari.

Date: 2005-02-04 02:12 pm (UTC)Crowley!!!!such wonderful things in it and brilliant fic. Some of us in this fandom have already made Crowley and Aziraphale go into space, with dubious results on my part I have to say.
Daegaer did a lovely fic here and I wrote the sprawling Nano beast
