I did swimming! Go me!  I haven't been since mid-October, but I managed half an hour: 10 breast stroke (fast), 10 back stroke (quite fast) , 8 front crawl (slow).

I liked [livejournal.com profile] brandnewgun's meme about public places you're known in:

Our corner shop - the Butts Convenience Store (yes, I know that the Americans on my flist will be sniggering right now. In Reading we have a part of town called St Mary's Butts, home to a shopping centre once named The Butts Centre).

The buffet on the Virgin Trains 7:05 to Edinburgh. Some of the stewards (but not the penis steward) recognise me-- not surprising as I've been making the journey every weekday for 18 months.

Blackwells, because I'm always in there and I trashed their Christmas tree.

The Upper Crust Sandwich bar at Reading station, where I get peppermint tea in the morning.

The Retro Centre, a shop in Reading where I've found another person who's into collecting melamine and has a whole lovely shop full of it and other funky items ([livejournal.com profile] tboy, you would love this place)

In other news, I spent this morning reading Wild Adapter - a manga by the same woman who's writing Saiyuki - and squeeing at some of the similarities in story lines and personalities, almost as if she's writing a Saiyuki reincarnation story. From what I can gather of Minekura's general style in plotting, how she builds up her stories and keeps her readers guessing, I'd be very surprised if this similarity wasn't intentional. It's obvious she loves to throw her readers clues and hints, and perhaps red herrings?  All right, some clues are more obvious than others, like Kubota looking almost identical to, erm, Hakkai.

Well, I must go and buy some jumpers.

[livejournal.com profile] permetaform thinks the same thing about Wild Adapter; she's got an entry about it somewhere. I haven't gotten far enough in it to say, myself.
