Title: Sakura
Fandom: Saiyuki
Pairing: implied Hakkai/Gojyo
Rating: implied m/m, worksafe
Notes: This came from the suspicion that Kanan might pop back up at some point in the manga. It also came from a very inspiring conversation with [livejournal.com profile] nekonexus about the same thing. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] daegaer for beta and [livejournal.com profile] emungere for encouraging comments.
Summary: Kanan's baby survived.

[livejournal.com profile] emungere, I think you need to read this Independent article on the emergence of 'haute patisserie'. It's Ono! Here's a selection of real life pastry wunderkinds and assorted cake porn:

Pierre Herme is a pastry chef who hosts his own haute patisserie shows to debut his spring-summer and autumn-winter cake lines.

Laduree - this is my favourite site, for the silly flash intro alone, which has bouncing macaroons. If Ono had a website it would do this. Its haute patisserie includes:
The jaw-dropping Blackcurrant-violet 'Religieuse'.
The frilliest cake in the world: Le Saint Honore a la Framboise
The lime-basil macaroon from the summer range sounds delicious: macaroons for all seasons
To brush up on cake history: the story of the macaroon

You get the sense from his website that Jean-Paul Hevin is far more uncompromising on form and eschews the frilly:
Pyramid
Guayaquil
Pomme de terre! Gives 'potato cake' a whole new meaning.

eta: [livejournal.com profile] free_manga (need to join to see it) has some chapters of Shin Pet shop of Horrors (New Pet Shop of Horrors) for those interested. Count D is as creepy as ever.
