I am being naughty and betting on the Good Omens screenplay on ebay! Arrgh. I can't afford it but the temptation is too great.
Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes - it's been brilliant to read them, and the promises of parachuting wombats and links to famous work of wombat art. *drunkenly hugs friends list*
daegaer wrote me marvellous Good Omens fic!
NEC was fun and tiring, then back in Reading we went for some cocktails, then went to Sainsburys for champagne and crisps and chocolate biscuits.
I got a charm bracelet adorned with a single silver hedgehog, a second hand copy of Brain Lumley's Necroscope (see subject), and cards!
jamjar - your parcel arrived today, which sent me into little spasms of happiness. That little fic is absolutely gorgeous, seriously. I have a Kougaiji pencil case! And Reload 1 in Japanese! And another book of interviews and pictures! It's on the wish list to learn Japanese eventually, not to just stare at these things. I tell myself this, anyway.
The reason for Brian Lumley is because he wrote a book called 'Necroscope II: VAMPHYR!' which has to be the most exciting title of any book in existence. But I can't justify buying it until I've at least read ( or tried to read) Necroscope I.
I imagined a Necroscope to be a complicated looking instrument on wheels with lenses and little knurled brass widgets but in fact it's a person who 'tears secrets from the souls of newly dead traitors'. It talks a good talk, but it better deliver!
