No real surprises here, apart Due South and Star Wars making the top 20. Mythology and Remus Lupin are almost neck and neck, which is kind of fitting and makes me happy. As for how normal you lot are, 32.64% seems about right.

I'm sitting here waiting for my fake tan to dry so I can go to bed. This week I'm trying L'Oreal Sublime Bronze self tanning gel with 'smoothing effect'. So far it's a sticky effect, which directly contradicts the 'non-sticky' selling point.  Oh, my life has changed in so many ways!  These complicated beauty regimes seem more and more attractive with every year. M refers to anything but E45 cream as 'snake oil' and he's almost certainly right. Still, I love to give in to the siren call of lotions and makeup.

My holiday was wonderful - we stayed in my brother's house, two minutes from the little harbour and beach. I adored Staithes, partly because all the locals, quite bizarrely, love my mother. She's made quite a hit there, and was recently asked to judge the local scarecrow competition (don't ask).  Somebody dedicated one to her: my brother reported that apparently it was dressed inappropriately for my mother, as a prostitute. I waved as we zoomed past York, [livejournal.com profile] biascut, but I expect you didn't see me as you were gallivanting around Berlin in mysterious sunglasses.  After the seaside in the North, we went south to the Eden project in Cornwall. Imagine eight  HUGE milky, semi-transparent flies eyes hiding in a chalk quarry, add about 2000 people and vast planting beds that go all up the quarry sides. Imagine also IKEA like cafes and what seemed like a whole hive of wasps. The planting and the biomes (as they call the flies eyes) are fascinating and now I've seen every species of aubergine (or eggplant to you Americans) there is.

Then we came back just in time for our friends to produce their first baby. Jasmine makes very sweet (to me - remember I could give her back)  high pitched screeching sounds and has long fingers complete with those amazing tiny fingernails - what is it about those miniature fingernails? They get me every time. The day after that was another friend's child's second birthday party, at which there was mayhem, unfortunate weeing and pooing in the paddling pool and much smearing of chocolate cake over faces. At least, I hope it was...

The very best bit was the arrival of the party Wheels - a replica white vintage Bentley (another friend on his way back from chauffeuring brides for the day). Needless to say he very kindly offered to gives people rides in it, so off we went. It was hilarious and wonderful and I felt quite like Aziraphale, sitting there in the passenger seat, grinning smugly at passers by.

On that note, the fake tan has dried and it's time to go to bed to read for a bit. I am pacing myself steadily through Cyteen and am about half way through it. Back at work tomorrow - I'm suffering the back to work blues. I don't want to go!
