Also for [livejournal.com profile] jamjar, a bonus drabble, which is more rationing-oriented!

Black market

'Jam, or butter?' Aziraphale asked.

'Both. Why do you stick to rationing? I can get everything you need. What do you want? Bananas? Champagne? A new suit?'

Aziraphale was trying not to smile, Crowley could tell. 'You sound just like our local black marketeer.'

'A fine profession.'

'That's hardly morally acceptable, is it? When everyone else is going without? If they are, I will too.'

'But why? I can give you anything you want. You don't need to.'

'I do.' Aziraphale's face became expressionless as he poured weak tea and arranged the scones. 'I really do need to.'

I love this.

in part, I love it because it's something that exemplifies Aziraphale and crowley. Can't imagine another angel doing the same thing (I suspect other angels would ignore rationing, or fast in some big dramatic style).

The conversation, the having tea together... it's just what a drabble should be. A small, perfect moment.

(also, Crowley saying "I can give you everything you want. You don't need to." just turns my bones into melted butter.)

You need to write more of this WW2 era stuff. it's heartbreaking.

Thank you!

Aziraphale is very keen on appearing to do the right thing, and sometimes, deep down he probably realises this, that it's just the appearance of being 'the good one' that he's worried about, rather than actually being good, and this is one of those times.

Crowley's words give away more than he intended, I think:-)

Thank you! I'm rather enjoying writing it, I have to say, so there probably will be more. I'd like to do a longer story.

Random person commenting here...

I loved this drabble, and the theme in general. This is one of those subjects with the potential of revealing very much about both characters (more than either would care for, I suspect), and you've managed so much with just two drabbles. Please, please... write a longer fic on this?

Oh, Aziraphale.

I can give you anything you want.

Sometimes I think Crowley doesn't even know when he's tempting and when he's being nice.

'I do.' Aziraphale's face became expressionless as he poured weak tea and arranged the scones. 'I really do need to.'

Good for him.

That's so lovely and sad.

I can't think of anything else to say other than that, really. ^^;;

Hey, thank you so much for the fb! I'm really pleased you think it worked.

I would love to write some more of this, and probably will at some point.

No, he doesn't here. The line is quite blurred, but I think Aziraphale can see it.

I'm glad you liked it!
