How odd

I don't know why, but being off work sick is making me feel all Christmassy. Something has gone horribly askew in my brain.

Talking of which, today would be good day to plot out my Nano novel properly. At the moment the basic plot is, in a rather messy way,

For some reason Crowley has to go to another planet- filling in for another demon? Or, a recon mission to check how far the humans have got in thier colonisation of other planets. Now humans have discovered faster than light travel, they've nipped out the back door and are all over the universe. Metatron and Satan pissed off because they can't keep track anymore, as humans move too fast these days.

Somebody, help! How do I explain the existence of the universe, if, in GO world, the Bible is all true? God created the earth. The he created this enormous bloody place with lots of other planets and races too, because he didn't have enough to do? The logistics are a nightmare, etc, etc.

On the way Crowely gets lost down a wormhole. Adventures ensue- alternate realities. Demon is angel.

Back on earth Azirphale is getting worried. Things just aren't the same without Crowley. And, humans are really messing things up badly, and are on the brink of destroying the planet.

Aziraphale leaves earth to bring Crowley back. Also gets lost down wormhole. Adventures ensue. They both learn various things from their adventure, things that form crux of their understandng of humans, god, themselves and their purpose. But now sure exactly what yet. Maybe they don't understand anything better except each other. If it's going to be slashy this is where it will mainly be.

They find each other eventually, and get back to earth, but are too late to save the it from being destroyed by crazy humans. There is ineffability and change, but humans have colonised other planets. C and A are sent by god on a long misson, to seek out new worlds, new civilisations, to boldy go... (to contact all the races of man that have been lost) well, not quite sure about the details. It depends on the explanation of why the universe exists in the first place.

Damn, girl, this looks far too much fun. And yes, use the Adam stuff. Use it.

And you know Adam left a Kirk and Spock out there. Or more likely, a Captain Picard. Because he so would've been watching Next Gen when it used to be on BBC2 at 6pm on Tuesdays in the early nineties.

He would have been very little though - would his parents have allowed it? (If the book starts at its publication date, Adam comes into existence in 1991. If it starts a few years earlier - based on Crowley hearing Kylie singing 'I should be so Lucky' on the radio - Adam might have come into existence by 1988-1989).

Hehe - what were the kiddie-programmes at that time? Blue Peter, definitely.

Well, even if Adam didn't see ST:TNG himself, he could have read the novelizations, and he has an older sister who could have told him the stories. I had small cousins whom I had to babysit when I was a teenager. Their favorite bedtime story was Jaws. Yes, the plot of the movie. No, it never gave them nightmares. (It did give their mother nightmares when she heard me telling them the tale, but that's another story.)

I can't quite figure out what Adam would have been watching anywhere from 1988-1999 or 1991-2002. I wonder if the Doctor is roaming Adam's universe in his TARDIS? If he is, I bet that Adam has improved on the Daleks considerably...

I'm trying to remember which Doctor it was in the mid-nineties- and if Dr Who was actually still on air then. The last one I remember watching was Peter Davidson (showing my age here).

I rahther like the idea of universe populated by random sci fi characters that Adam may have heard of.

So he'd be 12-13 by the end of the book? Old enough to soak up all those TNG reruns. I don't know any kids programs from then though. Apart from Byker Grove!

Or the late nineties, even, figuring he's about 11/12 by the end of the book. He's bound to have seen some reruns.
