I was up at 1.30am scrubbing the kitchen down with a 3:1 water vinegar mix because a cat sprayed *somewhere* in it. I couldn't identify the exact epicentre of the catty stench but it's nearly completely gone this morning.

So that was fun.

My job search goes on - I didn't get an interview for a job I really wanted this week - but to tell the truth I'm sort of enjoying my period of unemployment. I've been working with a friend on a business idea she has and it's very exciting! I've been making things. More news on that at some point in the future, if it works. I've got over my initial need for lists and developed a more natural routine. Another friend, who has been unemployed for more than a year, tells me: "Time is the most precious thing you have, Louise." He's the sort of person who can say that kind of thing and manage to not only not sound ridiculous but also kind of inspirational. I've been letting myself do more of the things that I haven't done much of for a long time: more creative things, more socialising with my friends, more exercise, more cooking, more reading, more things around the house.

The only thing that has really suffered is my writing routine. It's gone out the window and I want it back. There's no reason I can't manage 1-3 hours a day, like I did when I was working, but it's so easy to turn away from it and do something else. Admittedly, the house is looking hugely better than it did two months ago.

How are you all?

I miss you! But not long to Squeefest, yay!

I've been rediscovering the joy of emotions, after reducing my antidepressant dose. The good bit is that I'm not getting the incapacitating anxiety attacks and Mammoth Woes that would previously have consigned me to bed. The bad is that I seem to be afflicted by THE RAGE about once a week. How do non-pacified people not go postal and rampage through their town centres more often?

we are good it is the holidays ... only four weeks thank god! I've lost my voice ... I sporadically apply to jobs I see that I want but am in no real hurry because even if I complain and yes I do get tired and yes I hate that the family dumps on me because 'hey she's a housewife she's free she'll do it' I would not swop any sometimes painful minutes with my children. ^__^

Yes enjoy the time! *hugs* We are all good apart from the voice disappearing. ^__^

I had that happen to a suitcase when I visited friends once. Ick. My deepest sympathies!

Bummer, sorry to hear that. Am crossing my fingers (and toes and eyes) for you on search front. :-) But hey, if you can start up something on your own/with a friend that would be totally awesome!

Have been sick quite a lot, which sucks, but I'm good atm. We should catch up! Want to go for drinks or dinner some time?

Wow... well, I'm glad the smell is gone! Definitely glad. ^__^

It is interesting how sometimes, losing a job can really help put a lot more priorities into their place. Creative people need creative outlets. A job can squish and push and mangle those outlets until we can't even see straight anymore, much less enjoy the things we usually love. I'm glad you're developing a new routine and I completely agree with your friend. You never know when the time will suddenly end. *nods* We all need to take time to enjoy the things that soothe our souls.

Good luck on you and your friend's business venture! ^_____^

I miss you too. I'm *so* looking forward to Squee. :D

I'm glad the antidepressants have gone some way to getting rid of the anxiety and Mammoth Woes (is that the sequel to Jurassic Love, btw?).

On the whole I'd say 'embrace the rage!'. I remember a similar experience when I came off the pill. I had never realised it'd been dampening my emotions for years, so suddenly the world was odd and shiny and sharp edged. Interesting stuff.

Good luck with the new project, it sounds exciting!

I'm all right! I picked too many stories for [livejournal.com profile] springkink, but some of the older pieces that have been on the back burner are finally really taking shape, so that's nice.

I can relate. My elderly rabbits (10 years old) have started to puddle randomly in "their" room. Luckily it's just the one room, but even though it has a tile floor, I think the damage may be permanent. A large bottle of distilled vinegar and a roll of paper towels are now fixtures ... .

I love reading your stuff ... whatever happened with the Saiyuki vampire story?

(I wish you all the luck in your job search, once you're ready for it.)

It sounds to me like you absolutely adore the time spent with your kids, even if it drives you crazy sometimes. Although the family thinking that because you're a housewife, you're 'free' is a bit of a joke, right? All the housewives I know are definitely not overburdened with free time.

Sorry to hear about your voice, that's rotten. :( Plenty of soothing tea for you!

ps- I've work my sparkly frog socks long and often! *hugs*

Ack, I'm really so sorry to hear you've been poorly with various things. *hugs* That does not sound fun. I hope you've been able to get some time off work to recuperate?

We must meet up very soon. I'm hoping daegaer will be around for a little while around squeefest - are you coming this year? But if we don't see you that weekend, we can get together for a few nights of wild cocktail drinking!

Thanks :)

I'm enjoying having a new life - it feels like a constant pleasant surprise not to be in my old job anymore, and to have time to just do everyday stuff. Maybe it's partly because of that feeling that I'm dragging my heels about plunging back into another life eating job. Thanks for the good wishes. :)

I need to get on that, stat. And you need to get on Rafa the Vampire Slayer!

I'd just LOVE 'the many moods of Roger Federer'. Please? Please? *puppy eyes* If you have time?

Uh oh. Springkink has the ability to make sensible women throw caution to the wind. Of course I can write 17 stories in two months! Of course!!

It's a great feeling when stories start to work, after a long time of idling in the background. I love that. I salute you!

Hah, thanks! Salute me more when they get done. :D

Ooooh, good picspam prompt! And one that scares me too much (so many photos!), until I get drunk and actually do it! *drinks wine*

Thanks. Am hoping the folic acid will buck me up a bit.

Yes, that would be great. Sadly no as I am off to see 'Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds' at the O2 - yay! I hate large crowds like that but for this I'll make the effort. :-)
Wild cocktail drinking? Sign me up for that, sir! ;-D

Distilled vinegar worked amazingly on the cat wee. I am so impressed! Also, it's so sweet that your rabbits have their own room. :D

Oh I had big plans for my Saiyuki vampire story, with a sequel to the one I wrote. I still have them, really. It would be like vampire noir, with intrigue and gay kissing and running around early 20thC London. Part of the problem is that everything looks so shiny and enticing and I get distracted so easily.

That sucks! But the business idea sounds exciting, has it gone any further?
