Frogs again

I dreamed about frogs last night - tiny little ones patterned like sea shells, that I was afraid of squishing with my toes. They were all over my bedroom carpet.

No, [livejournal.com profile] trensaddiction and [livejournal.com profile] new_kate, they did not talk and they were not rentboys. What do frogs signify in dreams? I could google it but I am horribly lazy.

Talking of talking frogs... Iris Print has a call out for its fairy story anthology, so I think I am going to send in my magical talking frog story. It does turn into manlove, honestly, not man/frog love.

So, with the frog story and my last [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_challenge story (which is percolating in my brain... hopefully. At least, it's doing something up there. I trust my brain), I have enough to keep me officially busy for a wee while. Unofficially, the brain is working overtime on stories that do not have a deadline. Stupid thing.

In more gripping arm news, the tennis elbow pain has largely gone. The double crush (!) is still giving me thumb and forearm tingles, but they are lessening, I think. I am back at work, gently typing.

Frogs! I think it means you miss your tiny lodgers.

I'm glad the arm is getting better - any news on getting the voice recognition software?

I do miss them and their slimy ways.

Work has ordered Dragon 9 for me, which should be here any... week... now. University ordering is notoriously slow. But typing is pretty okay, once I loosen up and get myself comfy.

Ah, dream interpretation. :D

Frogs symbolise the potential of change. If the frogs were leaping in your dream, it indicates your tendency to jump from one thing to another. Alternatively, it may suggest that you are taking major steps toward some goal. To dream that you are catching a frog, signifies your carelessness concerning your health. The frog represents emotional and spiritual changes.

In Freudian terms, the frog is the symbol of a fascination with male genitalia. No, seriously.

!!

That is like my entire life in one dream! I did dream I was catching them too, in a bowl.

I don't even want to know how he got from cock obsession to frogs. Or maybe I do.

Yeah on the arm news! Yeah!

I've always heard that frogs are quite a good omen in dreams. They are able to live in two worlds, water and land. Plus, they are so super-cute!

I will feel lucky about the frog dreams then. Being amphibious would be handy, now I think of it.

Yay for healthy arms. Well, not totally healthy, but better then before. Thanks :D

With Freud, isn't everything a symbol for the male genitalia?

Also, I have talking a polar bear who hires a rent boy... sort of... in my fairy tale, so don't let it get you down? XD

True. Poor Freud. I wonder what he said symbolised an obsession with vaginas?

...As long as it's not a talking polar bear rentboy!

With Freud, most things are a symbol for the fear of male genitalia. Because penises are frightening. :D Fruit is generally a female symbol, particularly apples and peaches. Also pots, jugs, any kind of recepticle really... Therefore, if we continue down the Freud route, by putting the frogs in the bowl you were sekritly actually dreaming about having sex.

I think Freud was a pervy old crackpot, personally.

I forgot to add that frogs are also seen as omen of good luck with money and/or love.

Sometimes dream interpretation does get it right. It's a subject that fascinates me, especially the archetypal dreams and sleep paralysis, because they are a crosscultural phenomenon.

And just as an additional piece of dream interpretation info; the key to meaningful analysis is to consider not just the symbol, but what significance the symbol has for you.

For example, if you dream of eating chocolate, and in your experience, chocolate is a source of indulgence or reward, then what ever was going on in the dream was likely pointing towards good things.

If, however, as a kid you binged on chocolate and became violently ill after, then the symbol is not so good. It's all about subjective reality. Apply that to the symbol and you'll get closer to what was really going on.

Emotions change symbols, so try to remember where the most emotion was centered, and what kind of emotion it was. How you feel in the dream with regards to the symbol often gives you a a lot more of a clue as to what everything means - to use the same chocolate example, what if you dreamed you were being forced to eat chocolate but didn't actually want to? I'd interpret that to mean that something is going on in your life that you normally like, but currently obligations and or having no choice is turning it into something you're coming to hate...

See how it works? So in your dream, were you delighted with catching teh little froggies, or was it freaking you out? You mentioned you were afraid to step on them and squish them, so if frogs mean Potential for Change, say, then perhaps at the moment in your waking life, you are being cautious or trepidatious about making decisions that you know may/will lead to change, because you don't want to squish the outcome (your goals? dreams?)

Eh, that's just a guess though. But that's how to marry dream symbols to meaning. A trick I learnt a while ago! Let me know what you come up with! ^__^

Yay for the recovering arm! I too have read someplace that frogs are a good omen in dreams. My hippie-psychic dream dictionary informs me that frogs in your dreams mean wealth and making new friends, and if you catch them 'beware, there's a cuckoo in your nest!' I don't really know what that's supposed to mean, though. Hm.

You know, I have begun to associate you with frogs, or perhaps vice versa. XD
