I fought the dentist and the £350 dental plan won.
Oh, but yay! I have sorted my teeth out finally and I am so overjoyed that they are not all rotting away in my head but are fairly healthy. Well, I say healthy: one root canal and one small filling. But! I am not dying of teeth. I am actually happy to be spending all this money and having a drill in my head. The news was enough to send me rushing into Monsoon to buy myself a new slinky top and then into M&S to get strawberries and feta cheese.
My dentist is called Joel, and he's from Australia. His demeanor is very calming, just like one of those friendly vets you get on TV, and he even showed me my x-ray, which no dentist has ever done before. He said that my sinuses were enlarged and that this was probably causing the tooth pain on my right side, and contributing to the tooth pain on my left side, which is where the root canal needs to be done. But the tooth is still alive and there is no abcess, which is wonderful news. I have four missing teeth at the back already, from failed root canals, and I would hate to lose another.
I told him that and he said: "Ah, but you can trust my root canals to work!" ♥
I'm not sure what to do about the sinuses, because it could be connected to hayfever - I've never suffered, but this year I seem to be very senstive all of a sudden and my head hurts in weird places. I'll start taking hayfever pills and see what happens.

That's funny, my hubby seems to be suffering from hayfever for the first time this year too! I've had it for over 20 years so he swears blind I've 'given' it to him, lol! Hope the meds help *hugs*!

Date: 2006-06-08 05:45 pm (UTC)Hayfever - I've started sneezing like a crazy thing, and I never suffered before. Has some new beast or pollen invaded the British Isles? (Febreze have an anti-allergen spray, I see - maybe that'd help?)

Date: 2006-06-08 06:32 pm (UTC)Yes, I'm looking forward to it ^_^! Well, the poster wasn't all that informative but a representative from TokyoPop will be there, you will get a goodie bag (while stocks last O.o) and it is on between 12-2pm. I'm sure it will be an experience though whatever happens, lol!

Date: 2006-06-08 07:28 pm (UTC)(Actually, I had one set of x-rays, the last set taken of my wisdom teeth before they came out, follow me from city to city and dentist to dentist like dental porn. I had eight wisdom teeth, all impacted. There's nothing quite as scary as sitting in the dentist's chair with those rubber blocks still wedged between your teeth and hearing the hygienist shriek "Oh, god, I've never seen that before and call the entire office in to exclaim over your x-rays.)

Date: 2006-06-08 07:36 pm (UTC)Actually I might be able to anticipate that answer as I worked in DVD production for a while, and if they are as similar as I suspect then it will be because of the time involved get the manga translated, the new copy laid in, edited and the cover design put together with sleeve copy, approved and the book printed. But it does suck when you know how far ahead Japan are with their manga releases!
I'd love to ask them if I could have a job as an editor but I know I'll feel too shy ^^;!

Date: 2006-06-09 10:10 am (UTC)I think UK dentistry is, or was, very different, and fairly resistant to change until very recently. Certainly in te past there was never much of an attempt to actually explain very much about the process to me.
