I decided to download 18-26 of Samurai Champloo. Only 14 hours to go...

Work was good today - had a productive meeting and got some ideas for the papers that we are supposed to be writing for the research department. Train home was absoluely packed, people standing in the aisles, and a baby relentlessly screeching. There are still lots of police at Birmingham New St station, not so many at Reading station. [livejournal.com profile] lexin made an excellent post on the bombings, here.

Anyway, as a distraction from badness I suppose, in the past two days I've surprised myself by writing more than 3000 words of a cracktastic, deeply smutty Batman/Saiyuki AU. The mind is a wonderful thing.

This post is veering wildly, but I've decided I actually really hate CLAMP's art after all. RG Veda is to blame - I can't tell anyone apart. On the other hand, I like Blade of the Immortal very much. I bought vol one today, but at a tenner a go and up to 14 (?) volumes, it might be an expensive habit.

Right, I'm shattered. Time for a large glass of port and then bed, I think.

Blade of the Immortal is an expensive habit, but once you get to volume 14 it'll be on the order of a year before volume 15, because Dark Horse publishes the chapters in a monthly comic book, and they only release the collection once all of them are out. So when you spread it out over the EXCRUCIATINGLY LONG time, it doesn't feel like quite such an investment. and Manji is a badass.

3000 words

Woo! The world is totally ready for Cat Gojyo.

I'm so glad you like Blade. I pimped it a few years ago with some success, but there still aren't many people writing it.

I strongly reccomend 2005-04-22, memo0708- and 2005-01-15, but they're all good.

Blade of the Immortal is just fantastic--it's one of the first manga I ever started collecting, way back when only the first four volumes were available and I had to get the comic shop to order it for me every... whenever it came out. Excruciating doesn't begin to describe it. -_-" But it's an excellent investment, and well worth the money. I pimp it like mad every chance I get.

And I have a love/hate relationship with CLAMP's artwork. I hate X, Tokyo Babylon, RG Veda, and Magic Knight Rayearth; I love Card Captor Sakura, Chobits, Clover, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, and XXXholic. CLAMP shuffled things around sometime in the late 90s, I believe, and changed their art style. I like everything post-shuffle.

Er... ^^; [relurk]

a cracktastic, deeply smutty Batman/Saiyuki AU

FYI, I can't wait to read this. Two of my great fannish loves, united.

And when will we get to read this cracktastic, deeply smutty Batman/Saiyuki AU?

Oooh - thanks for that. What utterly gorgeous art. The Jin as geisha one was amazing.

Well I hope I don't just mangle them both beyond recognition. But what could be better than Bat Sanzo, Butler!Hakkai, Cat Gojyo and Goku Greyson.

Ah, thanks for that info! The change around might explain why RG Veda is pissing me off so much, whereas I quite like Legal Drug. It's very different.

daegaer told me it was good a while ago, but I've only just got round to getting it. I think I'll need to read more before I want to write any, but it's so great - I love it already and Manji is a badass. It definitely needs fic.

Ah - advice taken. I'll happily restrict myself a bit, then and won't rush to read it all at once. It's always a sad day when you catch up with the publishing dates and have to wait.
