Could you tell me which bookshops to visit in London to find lots of good stuff (like the Mary Renault books which had been suggested I should read by [livejournal.com profile] daegaer as well)? And manga in English?

Ooh, you're coming to London at some point? Drop me a line if you want to/have time to meet up!

As for bookshops, for manga go to Forbidden Planet, which is in Covent Garden at the foot of Neal Street where it meets up with Shaftsbury Avenue. If you get out at Covent Garden Tube, Neal st is the one directly opposite, so it's fairly easy to find. There's also a wonderful shop called Gosh, which is at 39 Great Russell Street (opposite the British Museum) and is not far from FP. Thr manga section is smaller than FP's and is downstairs, down a scary steep spiral staircase.

There's lots of great bookshops on Charing Cross Road so I'd go there for a wander up and down. Foyle's is there and is amazing to browse and has something like 1.5 million books! It should have Mary Renault. Waterstones will defintely have Mary Renault. There's a branch in Trafalgar Square and in Covent Garden, on Garrick St.

Hope this is helpful! Apparently there are some more manga shops near Leicester square. I've never been to them, but maybe you'll find them on your travels:-D
