The return of the mindmap
Sep. 29th, 2006 04:40 pmI keep getting sent these things - watch me try and explain mine.
( My mindmap )
These are my (rather wobbly) categories:
People in the middle - Saiyuki people (although some of them I knew originally from GO fandom)
People in the top third - originally met through Harry Potter fandom
People down the left hand side are a mix of: UK slashers, people who I've met through Connotations or through small lit fandoms
Bottom third and lower right- people I know through Good Omens fandom
In theory, the mindmap shows me people who share the same interests as I do, and I can tell we're like-minded because we all read each other and each others' friends. The bigger the names are, the more friends we have in common... I think. Meaning, therfore, that we are likely to share more interests. The people represented by small text are ones I have least in common with, in theory. This makes sense in my head, really.
I think this map does a resonable job of reflecting who I have my main fannish interactions with--many of the bigger names are people I feel close to for one reason or another, or have had knowledge of for a long time. People represented by smaller names are people that I don't interact with very much, almost certainly because we don't share fandoms.
The ones with brackets round mean they have their own mindmaps and you can click on them to see them, although they may be somewhat out of date.
