I had a great weekend. new_kate came to stay. She still has her picture next to adorable in the dictionary, not least because she let me read her Saiyuki AU. Then I let her read my Saiyuki AU and we giggled and compared notes. We failed to watch any anime but this was because it turned out there weren't enough hours in the day and anyhow we stayed up very late on Friday talking about fic and Saiyuki and fandom. I'm sure that theory I had about Hakkai's limiters was not at all cracked, if only I could remember it properly. For those interested, it goes something like tHis, I think, (and imagine me trying to explain this after three bottles of wine): Youkai Hakkai is no worse than Gonou, in fact you could say they are the same. So Hakkai's limiters are stopping him from reverting back into Gonou, as well as physically changing into Youkai Hakkai (Youkkai!). The end. Or, well, I'm sure there's more but there isn't time to dwell on it now. Woe.

toscas_kiss came on Saturday and we had a fine time talking about all sorts of things over pizza and (more) wine and ice cream and Indian sweets. Yes, I am looking forward to the day when we get to visit toscas_kiss's cocktail cabinet. Also, sorry for the waffling about "exactly how did early man conceptualise the rectangle??" Oh dear. Also, we took funny pictures of new_kate looking very drunk. Then on Sunday I only had time to show her my Saiyuki doujinshi collection before the taxi came and whisked her away, with me running after waving the above mentioned Samurai Champloo wall scroll. And you forgot your toothbrush too.

In other news, I got 4000 words done last week of the epic porn novel, even with emungere doing her best to break my head with Mr Cho. Now our protagonists are lost somewhere in Mexico and will possibly have sex in a lagoon. Are there lagoons in Mexico? I need to check. If not then a car hood will have to do. All I have to do after that is get them to Cancun, somehow, where the chase picks up again. And also make sure the intrigue and chase part of it is working properly, which I am not sure if it is. Writing sex seems so much easier than keeping the action-- the other action-- gripping

Also, Life on Mars, the last episode of which aired last night on BBC1, is absolutely brilliant. I'm glad to hear a second series has been commissioned, but now we have to wait until next year.
