Back to the daily grind tomorrow, but I'm thinking of running away to open a high quality sex shop instead! And why not? It would be hugely fun to apply my skills to such things and, what's more, I'm convinced there's a niche in the market. I was in Anne Summers (UK high street lingerie/sex shop) recently, looking at its range and was very struck by the fact that most of its things are only available in bright, off-putting colours and are deeply unstylish and somewhat tacky. I mean, who wants cock ring to be bright blue and to look like a godamned dolphin? It's all very well having a fun, friendly dolphin-shaped critter, but not if your man's going to feel a complete idiot wearing it. But I suppose half the fun is that they work well and will help you forget what they look like. But still, dolphins.
The Rampant Rabbit vibrator (the most popular one in the shop) comes in eye-burning pink or cheap fake chrome that's bound to rub off during use. Ahem. I can see that these sorts of designs are aimed at making such things fun and approachable, rather than just having racks of scary, anatomically correct representations of The Biggest Penis in the World. All the same, I suspect that there's a market for people who want their sex toys to have a bit of style but who don't want to have to pay £800 at Coco de Mer for a crystal and glass number.
Anyway, in other news, here are some recs from Yuletide 2004, over in
miladysboudoir. I haven't read all the stories I want to yet, so there's probably be more.
