louiselux: (runpunkrun's retro freakout)
I posted this on [livejournal.com profile] fan_the_vote.

I'll write a story for whoever wants one.

I'm familiar with quite a few fandoms: Good Omens, Harry Potter, From Eroica With Love, The Professionals, Neverwhere, Mary Renault's books.

I'm happy to write in others though, as long as I'm vaguely familiar with them.

I'll also beta/Brit-pick your story.

Let me know in the comments what sort of fic you want (pairing, theme, length), and how much you want to donate.

If you don't know what this is all about, here's an explanatory chunk from the community site:

Welcome to FAN THE VOTE
…the Fannish Fundraiser for the Kerry Campaign and MoveOn.org.

This is where fen can come to volunteer their fannish services in exchange for pledges to either John Kerry for President or MoveOn.org (or both, of course).

It's like a bake sale, only wackier.

What can you volunteer? Why, any old thing! Fic, art, web work, web space, essays, in-depth feedback, beta services, cool icons, signed copy of your fic or art, anything! You don't even have to be good at it!

You can volunteer to do as many things as you want, and you can sponsor as many other fen as you want.

Poppies

Well, stuff. Last evening I saw that the gorgeous salmon pink poppy was on the verge of blossoming. It obviously took its chance today. Tonight, when I got back around 8, the petals were lying on the ground underneath it.

It's been and gone and I never even saw it.

But there are some even bigger, even more lurid, pink poppies on their way, so surely I'll see one of the things open, in its full salmony glory.

Work is busy. Boss is on holiday next week, for a fortnight, so meetings and reports have to be arranged and approved and suchlike. The minions have to be planned for. There's still no real progress on the pay issue. Boss met with the Dean this morning and he was about as helpful as a chocolate teapot.

I feel a bit flat about it all now. It's a matter of waiting. Unfortunately, waiting for personnel to get in touch is like waiting for a snail to cross the finishing line of a very long race.
