More extraordinary brane powers

Thanks for all the answers to the special powers poll. My favourites:

Sanzo:
If he had telekinesis, he'd never let anyone get within 50 metres of him.
Pissed off!Medium.
Slight precognition and slight telepathy, the rest is all attitude

Hakkai:
Psychometry, healing and life-force vampirism
Only acts like he's reading your mind.
Absolute direction sense like an internal GPS - this made me think of Mildmay!

Goku
Spidey-sense
Telekenesis or just plain superstrength. Maybe he's the Incredible Hulk?

Gojyo
The ability to give someone an orgasm just by thinking about it.
Charm / presence / awe-inducing magnetism. Or pyrokinesis.
Empathic / psychometry - quite a few people suggested empath for Gojyo.

*mulls it over*

Also, random thought of the day (last night): I was wondering if Koumyou kept Ukoku and Kouryuu apart on purpose. Kouryuu only has one memory od Ukoku, but it's clear Ukoku visited Koumyou sometimes - or even regularly? I really want to read more stories about Nii.

The ability to give someone an orgasm just by thinking about it.

Isn't that canon?

I thought Ukoku tened to visit Koumyou at night, and just assumed Kouryuu was asleep by then.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! He'd be a really useful person to have around, if that was the case - able to send the armies of youkai running away to change their underwear.

I'm never sure how often Ukoku visits, although Koumyou doesn't seem that surprised to see him.

I assumed that it was just because Ukoku always seems to turn up at night, long past ickle!Kouryuu's bedtime.

And now I have an image of Koumyou tucking up Kouryuu just after the six o'clock news with a bath and a bedtime story.

Oh dear. *falls over from cute!overload*

[identity profile] puddingcat.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Good grief. What sort of stories would they be? Kouryuu was quite grumpy, even as a child; I can see him correcting Koumyou if he got anything "wrong"!

Dude, that's adorable.

There is that one time where Koryuu is chiding Koumyou for staying up too late, and Koumyou's all, "yes, yes, good night," and then he turns to Ukoku, like Ukoku's just been waiting there all this time.

There are so many fab crack ideas here, oh my word. :D If you don't run with all of them, I may have to steal if that's okay with you. I have a special section split off for this type of thing on my bunny farm. :)

Hm, I think Koumyou would've been well aware that Ukoku was jealous of Kouryuu. That's maybe why he kept them away from each other for the most part. He may have also foreseen their paths crossing at some point in the future, or perhaps he just didn't want Ukoku influencing Kouryuu at such a young age.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Please feel free to do with them what you will! I would dearly love to read any of them.

I agree - it seems to me that Koumyou knew perfectly well how dangerous Ukoku could be and was protecting Kouryuu.

Do you think Ukoku is jealous of the unconditional love that Koumyou has for Kouryuu? In Sunspots, when he says he's jealous of Hazel and Filbert's relationship, I'm not sure exactly what part of it he's jealous of - maybe that he's never had a master who loved him so much?

And of course, if Sanzo actually *were* telepathic, he'd KILL everyone just for what they were thinking.

I didn't have time to really think about your poll first time round but I did think Gojyo might be good at snake-charming. Nothing Freudian in that at all. *whistles*

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol. Right! I'm sure he'd make a really good snake handler. Of the trouser variety.

Perhaps the world would be a safer place if Sanzo weren't telepathic. I like the idea of him being able to read people's futures.

Oh, I never realized this. Just one memory? Huh.

And as for the orgasm thing... that would make for a very Special Power! I

~ hysterical ~

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I might be wrong about that because there may be things I'm forgetting.

The orgasm thing could be like his secret weapon for when Hakkai nags about ashtrays and cleaning.

Um . . . YES! *snort*

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Imagine the shock!

[identity profile] therhoda.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh gods can I say Mildmay=Hakkai is such a fun idea in so many ways.

Sanzo reading minds would leave a path of dead perverts.

"Sanzo why did you shoot them all"

"They deserved it moron"

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
Mildmay as Hakkai actually gives me brane ache - oh the angst!!

The ability to give someone an orgasm just by thinking about it.

yswt :)

Maybe Hakkai could suck people's energy by touching them like Rogue from the X-Men, and Gojyo could be like a sort of psychic null, canceling out everyone else's powers, so he's the only one Hakkai can touch without killing him. (This might be from the X-Men too actually; did Rogue get a boyfriend like that? I cannot remember.)

Sanzo's power could be singing! He kills them at karaoke night! No, srsly (semi srsly), instead of his chanting with the sutra, his voice could somehow invest songs with power, so he sings something sad and his opponents fall down weeping. He would hate it so much, heh.

I sort of like Goku as the Giles-type scholar, because it's so incongruous.

'scuse me while I nerd it up; Rogue could touch 'Joseph' who was a clone of Magneto. I think they made it have something to do with him controlling magnetic fields around his body (I read this a looooong time ago).

Short version: yes, someone write this with Hakkai and Gojyo!

I'm rather curious about that myself.

And just for the record: I LOVE Nii and I flail at the chance of reading more stories about him as well as writing a few. The most recent installment from Minekura had me all a twitter.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
Nii is an enigma wrapped in a mystery and I really don't understand him. This is probably why he gets me so interested I think. The glimpses we got of him recently were really cool.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely think Koumyou kept Ukoku away from Kouryuu on purpose. I bet there were a couple reasons for it too; for one thing, I really do think Ukoku was jealous of Kouryuu, either because he wanted all of Koumyou's attention for himself, or because he was just envious of the life Kouryuu had (having a nice master to take care of him, being actually chosen to be a sanzo, etc). Given this, and Ukoku's natural sadism and sociopathic tendencies, I hardly think it's a surprise that Koumyou would've kept any and all small children well out of his way.

Plus, as others pointed out, Ukoku seemed to have a habit of visiting Koumyou in the middle of the night, and seemed to deliberately choose to come over when nobody else was around. (My, doesn't that sound risque?)

I absolutely adore Koumyou and Ukoku's relationship, and the complexities involved in it. It seems like every time someone mentions something about them, there's something new for me to consider!

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
It seems like every time someone mentions something about them, there's something new for me to consider!

I get EXACTLY the same thing. It is really so complex, I love them and how oddly dysfunctional they are.

That's an interesting idea that Ukoku's jealousy includes the relative peace and security of Sanzo's life and his position as Koumyou's disciple. Ukoku could never be that, because he became a Sanzo as soon as he met Koumyou, but I think Koumyou tried to give him some instruction at least.

[identity profile] toscas-kiss.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! So many cracktastic ideas! The 'he only acts like he's reading your mind' one really amuses me. He probably tried again and again to explain to people that no, it was merely a highly accurate ability to read people's body language, combined with psycology, logic and an innate ability with assessing statistical odds, however they wouldn't believe him no matter what, so now he just says, yes, I can read your mind. And no-one notices the sarcasm...

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yes exactly, ahaha! Brilliant. Honestly, that really does need to be written.

Upon reading this, it clicked into place in my head! I'd always unconsciously assumed that to be the case, due to just the evidence you mentioned.
