Manga

I got home at 9pm in the end, cos the train broke!

Cameron looks and acts almost like a normal human being in the new series of House. Wow. Cuddy had some weird puffed-sleeved blouse on and I very much hope Wilson and Cameron aren't being set up to have a romance, because then I would have to beat the TV to death with my own head.

The manga haul:
1. 888 (or Three Eight, but sadly nothing to do with Sanzo and Hakkai) part one, by Kuwata Noriko. It has two detectives who live together, their assistant and a (groomed) Pomeranian. It's very funny and the little dog is death by cute. I've no idea when the next one is out but I'm hoping it's not one of those once-every-three-months deals because I want more of the cute dog, now!

2. One thousand and one nights by Seung-Hee Han -- A manwha retelling of 1001 Nights where Shahrazad is a man impersonating a woman to save his sister's life because the sultan is beheading the women of the city. Oh, and his sister is in love with him and wants to marry him. Yes. We've been somewhere like this before, haven't we? It's entertaining, but kind of exhausting to read for some reason. I'm not wildly eager to find out more about these characters, even if everyone is ridiculously pretty.

3. Bleach, vol 3. Well, it was on special offer and they didn't have vol 1.

I have exactly that volume, for exactly the same reason. I like it and want more, but every time I go to the store they seem to have restocked and sold out again; there's a gap where volumes 1 and 2 should be. Most annoying. I hope you have better luck, should you decide to follow the series!

Mail order (http://www.up1.co.uk/Results?SearchView&SearchFuzzy=True&SearchWV=True&Query=Field%20Name=%22bleach%22) is the answer! Mmm, Bleach.

I tend to put off buying it mail order, then go into a shop and impulse buy it instead, which is an expensive way fo doing things, I know. I am all about the instant gratification!

Well, now I have 2 and 4 but still no vol 1!

You mean season 2? Because season 2 actually made me hate her more. I should just go ahead and start a "We Hate Cameron" club.

I couldn't agree more!

The first episode of season 2, I meant. I thought she seemed better than the demanding 'lets talk all about MY emotions' bot she was in series 1, but I'm not unhappy to be proven wrong, at all.

House and Wilson are clearly already sleeping together, but I suppose that doesn't mean Wilson can't sleep around. But yeah, please not with Cameron. Oh, the horror.

888! I've never heard of it before, but it makes me think of Hakkai clone sex. Or maybe Hakkai/Tenpou/Sasha. Mmmm.

They are clearly sleeping together! All those little smirks that pass between them. I love the way Wilson is really a bit of a mother hen towards him, too.

Hm... The one I really have started liking in season 2 is Stacy, actually! Cameron - mweh! :)

I think a 1000 nights etc. would have been better if there were more plot and less (Turandot etc.) storytelling. I like the characters and they are Teh Pretty, but there was so much exposition and the Turandot story that I got very disappointed (and bored). I'll be reading it stealthily in the bookstores, I think :)

I am extremely mweh about Cameron myself, I have to say. What a very annoying person she is.

Oh, the Turandot story was sooo slow. I lost interest about then - I hope they don't keep on doing that. Stealthy reading sounds about right. :)

re Cameron: there are eps. in which she in insufferable.

Yes, the Turandot bit was where I skipped to the end, feeling cheated that half of the manga was about that (and, annoyed because they couldn't make up a story, but they had to use a 19th c. opera for a story set in the middle ages - not to mention how I find Turandot a good opera but its orientalism gets on my nerves at times...)

I'm now imagining Gonou in drag (http://www.helene-eriksen.de/calendar.htm). This is not an altogether unpleasant mental image.

omg! Gonou in swirly skirts! It's aching to be written.

Granted I've missed the last episode or two due to wanting to kill the writers Foreman, but your head (and tv) need not worry.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
oh thank god. She's absolutely the most annoying character-- I don't know why they made her so needy, but I spent all of season one wanting her to just stop demanding that House talk about his 'feelings' ALL THE TIME. aaaargh.

[identity profile] wildelamassu.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
She's got to fix him OMG.

I can't stand this turn in her character, really, though she makes Stacy and Cuddy make the most hilarious "out of my gender plz" faces.
