Pet Shop of Horrors

I like Pet Shop of Horrors, after reading vol 1. The art is sweet and very very cute. Count D is quite bizarre and seems to really enjoy doling out dangerous 'pets' and with them a list of instructions for care that involves at least one hard to keep, if not impossible, thing, like 'don't let anyone see your enormous new pet basilisk.' I think he's got a wicked sense of humour under his power bob.

The first couple of books are a little fluffier than the rest of the series, though he's still adorable all the way through. Those times he isn't being downright creepy and inhuman that is. I have books 1 - 5, do you want me to bring them Friday?

I love D so much. I felt after the-- maybe second or third volume?-- the story got much, much better, too; it starts evolving out of the 'bad pet of the week' storylines.

Oh, I love PSOH! I've got some PSOH recs on my site, but most of them will make a lot more sense if you've read at least to the end of volume 5.

Muahahaha *ggg*.

Oh, I'm so pleased. So really, really pleased. Yes, it does pick up after vol 4 - and then you'll get to see the lovely Count D interacting with... oh, but I'll leave you to discover it all yourself *eg*.

His sense of humour is indeed wicked. There's a lot more to him than first meets the eye.

I love him to bits :-D.

PSoH is definitely in my top 3 favorite manga series. Like mistressrenet noted, it fleshes out toward the end with D's character becoming even more intriguing and the story itself darker and, IMHO, more hypnotic. And there's even some cute Leon/D scenes that will make a person wonder if there aren't some unrequited feelings there.

Once you finish the series, if you haven't read Unwilling Sleep it's highly, highly recommended. It's also full of spoilers for the entire series so fair warning :)

"Power bob." *snerk* So, so true.

don't let anyone see your enormous new pet basilisk.

Isn't he fabulous? I mean, come on, people, wise up! (But I have to admit that for the plot of the series it's a good thing they don't...)

I'll just chime in on the PSoH love. It's such an awesome little series. And I was ecstatic to discover that the mangaka has started a sequel series, of which I now own the first volume. It's excellent.

PSoH is one of the best manga series ever. It gets even better around vol. 3 or 4, and then after Leon's brother comes in, it's truly excellent. And oh, the ending! It's a great series. Much love for PSoH. <3 I need a D icon.
