No sleep till bedtime

Some neighbours had a party last night. Sunday night! The night when most people are having to get up for work the next day. I managed to fall asleep by about two, through all the music, Abba screamalongs, yelling, incoherent male bellowing noises and associated banging from everyone else in the terrace.

I heard someone telling them to keep the noise down, and then the answering scream of 'fuck youuuuu'. I am so tired today. I keep fantasising about all the complaining letters I could write. Bah!!

On an upside, I made a packed lunch for once in my sorry existance. Brie and apricot sandwiches on seed bread. I also have two tiny apricots and a banana. A friend picked some white-fleshed cherries from his orchard for us yesterday, but I'm leaving them to ripen for a few days, on his advice. I'd love a cherry tree in the garden - although given the choice I'd have a mulberry tree, because mulberries rule over cherries so hard!! Oh dear. I really do need sleep.

I'm surprised no one called the cops. Round here, the police are pretty good about clamping down on anti-social noise.

I think this is one of the worst things about summer -- open windows and other people's music choices at high volume right into the night. And every year the noise levels seem to get higher.

It's possible someone did call the police... after I fell asleep.

Yeah, loud music is a menace really. I just don't get why people are so inconsiderate of others.

A letter of complaint might be an idea, but I guess it depends on what sort of people they are (the 'fuck youuuu' doesn't bode well, heh). It wouldn't bother me on a Friday or Saturday, but on a Sunday they should have had much more consideration. :/

I've never met him, but yeah, the drunken bellowing at neighbours doesn't look good, to put it mildly. Gah.

I hate that too. Sunday night parties are inconsiderate, especially if it escalates way into the night...

Hope you manage some rest when you get home later.

Hugs!

Aww, thanks. :D I might sleep on the train. Which is better than sleeping at my desk.

*snores*

Just don't miss your stop okay!

For next time, I suggest sneaking up like a ninja and spraying them all with a garden hose. :)

I will! Maybe a giant one.

Hope you have a good sleep tonight. A few years ago, the RCMP once grabbed some of my neighbours who were partying a little too wildly. Of course, they had also stolen a ladder and were trying to cut down some festival banners that the city had strung up on the light standards, so it was pretty obvious that they were making everyone around them very, very grumpy. After that stellar example of civic-mindedness, they got evicted. So one can always hope.

Another time, in a college town, I had to walk down a street where two neighbours on opposite sides of the road decided to have a loudspeaker war. That was --- different.

Oh yay loudspeaker wars. Gahhh.

Ugh, I hate that. So inconsiderate, especially on a Sunday. I hope they get lots of nasty letters from the neighbors. It'd be even better if they got into trouble! In our neighborhood, we have pretty strict noise laws, so loud parties result in both the summoning of the cops and a stern letter from the homeowner's association. Hmf. Rude people.

I wouldn't mind if had been a Friday or Saturday night, because that's more acceptable. BUt Sunday! Nooooo. Precious sleep is required for braining properly at work.

I second [livejournal.com profile] emungere's hose plan. Stupid neighbors. (For two weeks in a row my next door neighbor would be gone all weekend, but then have a party nearly every week night. I was not a happy camper.)

Hehehe. I like the hose plan too - I may have to put it into action!

Mulberries

I have sympathy with the noise problem. Not for myself, since I come from a large family and had to develop very efficient "ignore it" filters, but my man is a musician, and listens in detail, so other people's music is really irritating.

I have a black mulberry tree/bush which needs pruning cutting back to about 1/4 of its current size. Would you like some cuttings? They should grow into fruiting plants in a year or two.

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks so much for the offer of a cutting! I would love one, but it depends if you are in the UK?

In Cambridge. Even the Royal Mail should be able to manage that.

The tree's fruiting now so I guess I'll be cutting it in a couple of months.

Hooray!! That's brilliant, thank you. :D Oh the joy of muberries! I'll send you my address.
