Huh, well fancy that

I just tried the bookblog gender genie, which claims to identify your gender by analysing key words used in your writing.

Interestingly, although not terribly surprisingly, my research papers come out as male and my rampant gay porn fics come out as female.

All signs indicate that I am male. Fic, academic writing, and LJ entries. Oh my. Sometimes I got results which were female but never by more than a hundred points or so out of several thousand. *g*

Dude. The way the key words on that thing are set up, anything that's in the first person or about female characters will come up as female -- seriously, half the female keywords are like 'your' 'me' 'her' 'hers.' Apparently pronouns are way girly. Like, I just put in some D. H. Lawrence that featured female characters and it came up feminine. And all of my stories that were in third person about men came up masculine, while those in first person or in third but about women came up feminine. My LJ entries about myself came up feminine, but my rec posts came up masculine. I think this thing is rigged, yo.

Also, the Sheriff's letter to his mother in law came up feminine, but that was okay because it was intended that way.

I almost always get male when I take those tests.

Hehe! I got mixed results...Almost exclusively poetry got me male. My first person Hakkai fic got me male. Sanzo & Gojyo gets me male. Hakkai & Gojyo gets me female. My Sanurai 7 fics are female. Hakuryu gets me male. Getbackers gives me female. Gojyo in the present gets me male and Gojyo in the past gets me female. Like I said a mixed bag...Damn I am mixed up! Ahahaha!

Interesting results though. It's a weird in a way because someone has decided that the keywords are male or female...already. That someone must've had a helluva lot of spare time!

Thanks for the gender genie link. I was delighted to see a Goku POV I did came out as male. My professional writing (translation stuff) came out as male too. Still, the last time I did one of these things, I was slap bang in asexual territory. I feel this is an improvement!

My rampant gay porn fics come out pretty strongly male. Even the ones that have female characters and therefore a smattering of female pronouns, such as 'she' etc. I can't really see why though. The words it uses to supposedly discriminate between the two are pretty universal ones.

That is one sexist machine. ;)
