This morning I didn't get the job I was longing for. The disappointment took all day to sink in, and when I got home I was, I'm sorry to say, maudlin. I have a job interview at 9am tomorrow morning. I don't really want the job, but going by sod's eternal law, I'm bound to be offered it. And I've had too much sherry tonight too!

I'm so sorry - I know how that feels. I was once devastated in a similar situation. It was just horrid. The job I wanted was in the department where I worked and my then boss basically told me that I wasn't what they wanted for that position. But I did get satisfaction a year or two down the road when the person they'd hired left and they had me fill in until they could hire a replacement, all the while practically begging me to take it permanently. (Yeah, right. Thanks, but no thanks!) Who knows what the future holds? If it makes you feel better, you can imagine all sorts of evil nastiness going on behind the scenes there. In the meantime, take care of yourself and good luck finding something that suits you!
