Tired, soggy and aching, plus poll

Got rained on today, in Tipton. Again.

Every time we go to Tipton a storm arrives and we have to walk along a busy main road each struggling in our own personal umbrella hells. But the meeting was excellent - more solid feedback that the project is working, which outweighs the horror of meetings

My hair is all knotted from the wind and I'm so sleepy. A Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Demerara Highland Shortcake biscuit (a mouthful in both senses) gave me shocking indigestion until 1.30 am, when I fell asleep from sheer annoyance. Taste the Bile, more like.

[livejournal.com profile] tboy, it will be either be a turquoise and white butter dish, or a chocolate brown and white one. Hope this is okay. I gave the orange and white one away some time ago

[livejournal.com profile] notassuch, yes! I'd be very, very happy about the fic!

Hello, [livejournal.com profile] ekaterinn!

[livejournal.com profile] cygny, I will get back to you very soon, when I have dried out from the rain.

I've been meaning to ask this for a while, and it's mainly for recs. I always just put in a link, but I've been wondering if that's the best way, and if the link should open a new window, so:

[Poll #349967]

When I did this poll some time ago, the results were that more people preferred links to open in a new window - but those who did not like this behaviour were far more vehement about their dislike for it. This seemed to be because anyone with browser-savvy can right-click and force a new window (or a new tab) if they choose, but if the url-er forces a new window, there is no way to keep it in the same window. Therefore, I don't open links in a new window in my urls.

(And personally, I don't like them to open in a new window.)

What she said. I usually just do the right-click thing when I'm in the mood (or even save-target if I'm short on time).

Hmm, yes. I didn't take me long to realise the truth of this. More people have said that they would like it open in a new window, but those who don't seem to feel very strongly about it. My decision is to leave things as they are. I don't want to force behaviour on people's browsers and piss them off.

Either sounds lovely, thank you! Besides, if everything was orange it would soon cease to be as special, I reckon ;-).

I shall make it a surprise!

I read the question and I was just about to get vehement about it, but I read what [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo said so I'll just second that :)

(One of the main elements in usability is control, and forcing a link to do anything is taking control away from the user; when this user is me I tend to get pissy :>)

Cool;)

I absolutely agree with this, I have to say. It's clarified the issue for me immensely.
