Auction and Iris Print

The Sweet Charity fan auction is live, so yay! Do your worst, peoples. It's a little bit dangerous because I keep thinking of the porn fic I could get people to write for me and how very cool that would be.

In other news, Iris Print is in financial trouble. In case you don't know, it's a small publisher of orginal fiction that is focused on slash/yaoi themes and is aimed at women. Maybe that's not the best summing up ever, but you get the gist. I like them - Okay, they published one of my stories, but I still like them just for existing and wanting to supply a market that many publishers probably aren't even aware exists, or maybe aren't that interested in catering for. It'd be pretty depressing to see Iris Print go down the tubes.

I don't know Kellie very well, who runs Iris Print, but she seems genuine. Her explanation of what happened is here.

If you want to help, Kellie needs people to volunteer as experienced proof readers and also needs people to pre-order books: for example, Queer Magic needs 250 pre-orders before 31 Jan otherwise I think it'll be cancelled and all pre orders returned. And that will be sad.

I amused

I opened my newly arrived copy of the Connections anthology to see my story right at the front. I think I am very pleased about this. Unless, you know, the first one is traditionally the one no one reads.

In any case, it is clearly something of a mission statement by Iris Print because that story is utterly lewd and kind of romantic all at the same time.

Connections Anthology by Iris Print

Right! I keep forgetting to do this. *clears throat*

My short story, Siren, is coming out on September 29 and it will be in the Connections anthology published by Iris Print.

Now, I am very fond of Iris Print and not just because it gave me folding money for a story, but also because it aims to grow the market in America (and hopefully Europe) for original slash, yaoi, boy's love, men loving men, or whatever the best term is.

You can order the book direct from Iris Print, or from Amazon ($12.95 or €10 or £6.85)
