I lost an hour reading back through my old LJ posts, remembering old jobs, anxieties and my succession of fandoms. I've imported all that stuff, so it's still here, but all the same it's sad to finally say farewell to that old place.
Oh well, if anything, it's prompted me to remember how nice it used to be to journal and to actually talk to people rather than just tumbl. That old timey participation!
LJ has been a very important part of my life. And I know the new platforms had already stolen most of the fans away (which I don't understand, because the new platforms suck and the sense of community is what makes fandom so fucking great), but this is like pulling the plug and watching it die for real. I don't know, it's hard.
It is hard. It's been an important part of mine too, and it infuriates me that fandom has chosen a platform that makes communicating in words so difficult. Tumblr does have a sense of community, but you're lucky to find it and can end up becoming deeply unparticipatory. That happened to me until Hannibal fandom on Tumblr. I still don't interact with people even a tenth as much as on LJ, but at least it's a little, and the fandom is kind.
No, it's a good point! Thank you! Eli and I do have a plan for Cupidity, to make it into an e-book. It's just getting round to doing it. But at the very least we should transfer it over here.
Yes, I've been thinking for a while that I need a Tumblr. Because I miss fandom, I miss being creative and doing stuff, but it's especially difficult for me to overcome the inertia of doing nothing if I'm not aware that there are people out there wanting to see/read my stuff. It's that interaction between authors/artists and fans that pushes me to write/draw, it's wanting to take part, to be part of that, that makes me produce shit. And LJ is not giving it to me anymore, AO3 is not designed for that and Tumblr makes communication incredibly cumbersome, but at least there's some activity in there. So yeah, I consider opening an account.
(It's sort of amazing how the weirdest, darkest fandoms can have the kindest fanbase and sometimes the fluffiest fandoms can have the most gruesome shipwars/wank.)

What about the fic LJs you and Eleanor made? I hate the thought of anything bad happening to, for example, "Cupidity."
(I know, I'm a broken record. But if three's anything I could do to help ... .)
