Alpacas and cake and shelves

I have all these lists of things to do now I'm out of work, but today I scrapped it all and went to see my friends who had moored a boat down at the local alpaca farm. I love alpacas. There are also some pics of my recent decorating and new shelves.

Run away!

Run away! Again! They might look smug, but actually alapcas are a panicky lot.

My bike and some more alpacas. It was a beautiful day, but by afternoon I was getting a bit chilled. I had a flat tire on the cycle home and bumped along for the whole five miles.

Baby alpacas! Not running away for once.

Nana cake I made using this recipe. It was delicious and moist.

New shelves in the newly decorated downstairs room! The paint colour is 'ice princess's boudoir'. All the books are finally off the floor. This is unprecedented.

These are painted with one coat eggshell and sprayed inside with gold spray paint.

Man and tools.

Love the books and bookshelves! And the one with the gold inside is awesome.

Alpacas! ♥ I had no idea they were panicky. That's kind of adorable.

Eee, alpacas!

Where did you get those shelves? They're exactly what I've been looking for :) (And you know that, now you have no books on the floor, you have to get More Books, right?)

Without their coat the necks look so scrawny! XD And I love the bookshelves. *_*

Alpacas! What a strange and beautiful looking animal. I've never seen one in person before. Thank you for the lovely photos.

And I am envious of your new room!

Hehehe!

I didn't know alpacas were skittish. Some of them have poodle cuts!

Meanwhile, I'm interacting with llamas. They aren't skittish - in fact, they don't even want to acknowledge my presence!

I like those shelves, very nice.

Alpacas! They're so cute! I love their poodle hairdos.

I was almost dissapointed that this post wasn't about a sobbing sad alpaca talking smack about Mandy's mum, but then there was cuteness and pretty shelves. I have a thing for book shelves!

I loved this post quite a whole lot! :D Alpacas!! Banana bread!! BOOKS! &hearts ; The baby alpaca in the fourth pic looks like its hairstyle's straight of the 80s, Flock of Seagulls much? ;p

*SHELF ENVY*

There can never be enough shelves.

There are ALWAYS books on my floor.

Very cool chair btw.

[identity profile] frogglesthefrog.livejournal.com 2009-04-25 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
My gosh, they are adorable!!
Also your banana bread looks very nommy!

[identity profile] tochira.livejournal.com 2009-04-26 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Those are quite possibly the coolest bookshelves I've ever seen. Do you mind if I save the photo for future reference/inspiration?

And thanks for sharing the adorable alpaca photos!

The shelves! I love them to death. Matt made them from wooden wine crates, and then we painted them. If you happen to find a place where you can get the crates, it's worth nabbing some. We got ours from the wine mail order company where Matt works, where they were giving them away for free.

The New Books are already flooding in.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Llamas! <3 They are quite different from alpacas, I had not realised. They have much shorter necks.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
There are llamas in Reading, at the Childe Beale animal farm, which yo may or may not remember.

The shelves, at last! NO more books on the floor. For now...

Hope you are well, Zan. <3

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, they all have ridic poodle dos, the silly things.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
One day there will be such a post, mb! I bet the sad alpaca does that all the time at home, when he's not busy being beaten up by Roger and Rafa.

*sends you bookshelves*

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
The alapacas are down with 80s pop culture, I think. Sometimes they looked like they were wearing leg warmers too.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! We got given the chair 'to look after' by a friend who's partner won't have it in the house. He found it in a skip but actually it's quite a collectors item. Sadly, it's terribly uncomfortable.

Oh, books! We live in a sea of them. It's nice...

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It was EXTREMELY nommy. So much so that I'm feeling a bit inspired to make it again tonight. Yum.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome! I'm glad to hear you like them. They're made from some wooden wine crates nailed together and painted white. We got them free from a mail order wine order company's skip, where we were allowed to take them away for free. It's worth investigating if you ever need cheap and capacious shelves.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ice princess's boudoir is teamed with 'fortress of solitude' for that extra gleaming whiteness!

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpacas are very odd creatures. They remind me of long necked sheep and are just as jumpy and nervous as sheep too.

Glad you like the room! I'm really pleased with how it's turned out.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They have such thin necks. How do they support their heads, I ask myself?

Yay, thanks! I'm just so freaking happy about the bookshelves, it's untrue.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Wee panicky alpacas a v cute!

I'm really pleased with how the gold shelves turned out. I've painted the glass doors now, so they are finished and waiting to be filled with shiny objects.

[identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeeee! They totally are half poodle half alpaca. What ridic creatures.
