seXmas

Hello! Christmas day has been very relaxing and lazy, mostly spent with whiskey and chocolate, apart from our afternoon bike ride... except for the bit where we stopped to drink whiskey and, um, eat gingerbread. But! I hope you all are having a happy, peaceful day too. *strokes flist*

Oh, and there is that little thing called [livejournal.com profile] yuletide that I have seen mentioned occasionally. I didn't take part this year, mostly due to teh bad arm (which is a lot better now btw, for anyone wondering) but there has been such a lot of excitement generated this year about it on my flist - more than ever before, that I remember. Anyway, here are some of my very favourites so far:

Antique Bakery
Learning to Fly
Really note-perfect characterisation of Ono and Tachibana, with awesome handling of subtext. Oh, I loved this story and Ono's pov.

Melusine
At the Hands of the Wicked
Good, longish fic that reads like something from the novels themselves and develops Felix and Mildmay's relationship in a very satisfying way. The only Melusine story, but I was so glad to find it.

Wild Adapter
Human eyeballs, the takotaki vendor and the not really dead cat
Just - gah. So good. The way Tokitoh is written really pinged me a lot for Gojyo-- I think this really made me like him even more and he has all these beautiful (by which I mean hilarious and blunt) thoughts about Kubota.

Samurai Champloo
since I am not a bird
Jin/Mugen - sort of gritty and erotic at the same time and irt has a really great view of Mugen through Jin's eyes.

Yay! on the arm news. And yay! on the whiskey and chocolate. I didn't participate in Yuletide, but did find a great Yellow story, which I will rec real soon now, think you'd enjoy it. So glad to hear you had a good Christmas. I did, too, very relaxing.

Thanks! It is very much yay about the arm. I was interested to read about your Philosophy experience too - my SO bought me Baby Grace shower gel and body lotion-- it still smells like parma violets and soap. I think I am addicted to it!

Oh, I looked saw your comment on on the longer Yellow stories and totally made a mental note to read it on the basis of that.

I usually love Philosophy but Gingerbread man just isn't doing it for me. Have you tried Falling In Love? I got a big sample set of it and like it, but it's a little floral for me. It's got a wonderful texture though. So soothing. I am completely addicted to their Purity and Hope Is Not Enough. Well, and their lip balm. That's really good too. Hee.

Here's the Yellow story: http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/26/tatteredlotus.html

It's so good. Really in character and quite sweet but not at all saccharine.
